Kimmo Korhonen and Matti Jauhola founded Solacide in 2004. The bands roots go back to 1996 when Matti and Kimmo founded Dim Moonlight. The band released 2 demos under the name Dim Moonlight: “…To Tranquility” in 2000 and “Pleasure of Existence” in 2002.
In 2004 the band changed its name to Solacide, and two new members joined the band; bass player Sami Tikkanen joined in early spring 2005 and guitarist Joonas Vanhalakka in September 2005.
In April 2008 Gökhan Korkmaz joined as lead singer, and Solacide recorded an EP called “Baptized In Disgust” in May 2008, which was released in February 2009. ”Baptized in Disgust” received many praising reviews from Finland and countries such as Germany, UK, France, US. During 2009 and 2010 Solacide did gigs across Finland& Russia and audience acknowledged them as a professional, aggressive and fiery live band.
Solacide recorded “Waves of Hate” EP during winter-spring 2013 at their own studio in Lahti. EP consists of 3 studio songs and 2 bonus live songs, which were recorded during their DisEaster Tour in 2010. “Waves of Hate” was mixed and mastered by Juho Räihä (Gloria Morti, Before The Dawn) at SoundSpiral Audio. “Waves of Hate” was released through Gravity Entertainment in September 2013 and distributed by Plastic Head Distribution / Code7 Music. After the EP release guitarist Joonas Vanhalakka decided to leave the band.
Solacide went back to studio in late 2013 to record ”The Finish Line”. The album was mixed and mastered by Juho Räihä at SoundSpiral Audio in February 2014. The album was released through Via Nocturna in February 2016, at the same time the band released their debut video ”The Maze”. ”The Finish Line” got excellent reviews around Europe, Scandinavia and Russia. In March 2015 Eero Wuokko joined as a second guitarist.
In April 2017 Henri Sinokki replaced Sami Tikkanen on bass.
Solacide is now writing a follow-up for ”The Finish Line”.
